Adult Summer Intensive

Adult Summer Intensive is a one-week program in August for adult dancers who want to see great improvements in their technique and learn ballet repertoire. A rare opportunity for adult dancers, this program aims to help adult dancers quickly make progress in their own ballet journey through daily technique class, dance conditioning, and offers a chance to learn classical ballet repertoire. This year, we are offering two levels of the program – Elementary and Intermediate. Each level is one week and will culminate in an informal showcase to highlight the progress students have made followed by a reception.

FAQ

Which level should I sign up for?
Our two levels this year will correspond to the open class levels. If you are still unsure which level to sign up for, we recommend asking your open class teacher for their recommendation.

Can I still participate in the pointe class even thought I do not dance on pointe?
Yes! Pointe class on flat shoes for both men and women is a great way to build strength and stamina.

Is it mandatory to participate in the showcase?
The showcase is optional to perform in! All dancers will learn the repertoire for the showcase, however it is your choice whether you would like to perform or not. The showcase is an informal performance not open to the public. Dancers may ask their friends and family to attend if they wish.

What repertoire will we be learning?
Dancers will learn a variety of repertoire choreographed by JMBT founder José Mateo and variations from classical ballets.
